Mission of organization - CAZAS (Montenegrin Association against AIDS) is non-governmental and non-profitable, community based organization, started with its work in 1998 but officially registered in the Ministry of Justice in October 1999, which is based on principles of volunteerism and fight for reduction of danger of AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and substance abuse by implementation of peer education program, prevention, help to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), their families, friends and partners and public advocacy program. Target group in our work is whole population, with an accent on young people aged 13-25 that are the most exposed to HIV and other STIs, and on vulnerable groups in Montenegro. Activities - Abreast with the expansion of our activities a number of members of our organization constantly increased. So far we have over 2000 activists all over Montenegro. Most of them are students and high school pupils, but also the others who want to give full contribution to our work through membership in CAZAS and who are mainly medical workers and other experts in HIV and substance abuse fields. In its work CAZAS is completely independent in creation and realization of its projects. All of our activities are based on five fields: 1. Work on prevention of HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and substance abuse by implementation of peer education program 2. Psychosocial help to HIV+ persons, their families, friends and partners 3. Public relation and campaigns for raising level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS 4. Fight against stigma and discrimination 5. Work with vulnerable groups. Our activities on prevention are determined to: 1. Persons of all sexual orientations, 2. Persons working in sexual industry, 3. Drug users and 4. Health workers. These prevention activities are being realized through the constant process of education, in order to raise the level of knowledge and change the attitudes and behavior of people regarding HIV/AIDS. How are we organized? - The main body of CAZAS is Assembly forgathering at least once a year. Between two sessions of Assembly, the Executive Board makes all decisions. This Board includes: President, Vice-president, Secretary and Members of the Board. CAZAS recently was organizationally restructured and we formed several departments within the organization. There are now existing 5 departments: Department for Peer Education, Department for Public Relations, Department for Psychosocial Support and Help to vulnerable groups, Department for International Cooperation and Department for organization of summer schools and seminars. Each of these departments are being run by coordinators whose task is to gather a certain number of trainers skilled for particular area and further develop the particular department creation of new projects. Network of branch-offices - CAZAS branch-offices that are organized and work by similar mode momentarily exist in these towns: Pljevlja, Berane, Andrijevica, Plav, Rožaje, Bijelo Polje, Kolašin, Podgorica, Nikšić, Cetinje, Herceg-Novi, Kotor, Budva, Tivat, Bar i Ulcinj. These branch-offices realize their activities according to plan and program of CAZAS with complete independence in creation of their activities. We are constantly working on establishing new branch-offices and spreading the network of peer educators of CAZAS in order to cover whole territory of Montenegro.
