Ecstasy

Ecstasy can usually be found in form of tablet that consists different chemicals. Pure ecstasy has only 3,4 – methyl dioxide methyl amphetamine (MDMA). Most tablets consists other chemicals: MDA and MDEA (both similar to MDMA), amphetamine (speed), or even LSD. Some tablets do not have MDMA at all. Ecstasy has appeared on streets in 80-ies, and its usage rapidly increased in 90-ies among young people, especially at all-night parties. Country of origin is Holland. Ecstasy is mainly found in form of tablet with marked sign (e.g. Mitsubishi, playboy, heart, Mercedes…). Most common way of consumption is oral, but it can be sniffed, as well. Very often it is used in combination with other drugs (marijuana, LSD…) in order to increase the effects. That is the way to increase unwanted effects, as well.

Effect: after 30-60min, it lasts from 1h-4h and it's followed with feeling of pleasant euphoria (flash), high energy, feeling of increased power, cheerfulness, speeded thoughts, possible mild hallucinations, changed perception of time and space, loss of appetite, mood changes…

Physical manifestations: neuroses, nausea, sweating, increased body temperature, rapid eye movements…

Long-lasting effects: depression, confusion, loss of appetite, reduced body weight, neuroses, paranoia, and possible brain damage. There is possibility that after some period of time effects and feelings return without additional drug consumption (flash back).

Symptoms of overdose: rapid heartbeats, muscles spasm, nausea, coma, and death…

Addiction: creates middle/strong psychical addiction, while physical addiction isn't created. Tolerance is evident.
